| As
the media continues to inundate us all with stories of the scandal and crisis
in the Catholic Church, many lay people are struggling with mixed, uncertain
emotions. Attacks on Catholics seem to come from all sides—from coworkers,
TV comedians, athletes, and even comic strips. Disillusionment and disappointment
are prevalent. So, what can we as lay people do for our beloved Church?
The very best plan of action is intense prayer and sacrifice. Pray an additional
rosary for vocations. Offer up your daily irritations and annoyances for
the reparation of sins, especially those evil acts of abuse. Pray a special
prayer of thanksgiving for your own parish priest and bishop. Pray always
for the Pope, bishops, and priests who shepherd us. This garden was created
to be a quiet place to pray for our priests and for more vacations to the
priesthood and religious life. Through all our prayers, may the Church become
an even brighter light to the world! |
