O Lord, I beg You to send down the Holy Spirit upon me to enlighten me. May I know the designs of Your Providence concerning me and, filled with a sincere desire for my soul's salvation, say with the rich young man of the Gospel, "what must I do to be saved?" All states of life are before me; but, still undecided as to what to do, I await Your commands. I offer myself to You without restriction, without reserve, with a most perfect submission.
For be it from me, O Lord, to oppose Your wisdom and, unfaithful to the inspiration of Your grace, to strive to subject the Will of the Creator to the caprice of the creature. It is not for the servant to choose the way in which he will serve the Master. May You command for me what You please. My lot is in Your hands. "Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening."
O spirit of Piety, inspire
the affections of my parents and guide their projects according to Your wisdom.
O Holy Spirit, I sincerely desire to consult You Who are all-wise. Grant that
my parents also may submit themselves to Your decrees, faithfully and without
reserve. Amen.
