FOR PRIVATE USE
It is designed for use with rosary beads. On the crucifix: Prayer before a crucifix: Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, before Thy face I humbly kneel, and with the most fervent desire of my soul, I pray and beseech Thee to impress upon my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity, true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment. With deep affection and grief of soul, I ponder within myself, mentally contemplating Thy five wounds, having before my eyes the words which David the Prophet spoke concerning Thee: "They have pierced my hands and my feet, they have numbered all my bones." (Meditation on Five Wounds) First large bead: Act of Contrition: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen. Three small beads: 3 Our Fathers in honor of the Holy Family. Large beads: "O Lord Jesus, I beseech Thee, grant salvation to all those for whom Thou wouldst have me pray." (Prayer taught to St. Margaret by her mother) (Here I think of someone who has recently passed away.) Small beads: "My sweet Jesus, have mercy on us!" End
with: O dear St. Margaret of Cortona, please pray for me, so that I may also
have the courage to say to our sweet Lord Jesus "I neither seek nor wish
for aught but Thee, my Lord Jesus." By your constant intercession, please
protect me from the ravages of sin, and help me to walk the True Path to Christ
our Lord. Amen. St. Margaret of Cortona, please pray for me. Amen. |
